Joe established his financial planning practice in 1988, which merged into Berman McAleer in 2002 when he formed a partnership with long-time colleague and friend David Berman. Joe specializes in financial consulting for individuals, profit sharing plans and privately held companies with an emphasis on asset management, estate planning, and retirement planning. His clients benefit from his disciplined approach to investment management and the quarterback role that he plays while blending each individual client's needs and objectives into their financial objectives.

Joe holds a B.A. degree in Business Management from Washington College. He is currently a member of both the Financial Planning Association of Maryland and the Baltimore Estate Planning Council. He is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative with NFP Securities, Inc.

Joe is currently a member of the Finance Committee of Sacred Heart Church.
His past board service includes the Washington College Alumni Association, Financial Planning Association of Maryland, KBank & Trust, the Reisterstown-Owings Mills Chamber of Commerce, (where he served as President in 1995-96), and Hannah More School Foundation, (where he served as chairman from 2001-2006).

Joe and his wife, Stacy, live in Reisterstown with their three daughters – Sara, Hannah and Molly. He enjoys coaching basketball and softball.
